Introduction

It is the 7th of June 2023. Welcome to episode 23 of the Delivering Development podcast, helping language teachers and others in the field to enhance their professional development.

This episode involves a guest, something we like to do quite frequently so that we can get some different insights into some aspect of language teaching. This episode we are welcoming Anthony Green. Anthony has been teaching English in Italy for most of his working life and has always been fascinated by the gap between reading and oral comprehension. He soon became painfully aware of the limitations of current approaches to listening, and decided to do something about it, first with a series of CD ROMs, which proved very popular around the world and now with an online platform. He has two lovely grown-up kids and a very naughty dog. Anthony had an experience near the beginning of his ELT career that has an influence to this day. This related to the teaching of listening, something that the Delivering Development team is aware is often done very poorly, even in published material from the leading publishers.

We plan to do a follow-up on this subject.
